Silicone Gel vs. Saline Implants
Most patients can enjoy fantastic results with either saline or silicone implants, although each has its own advantages. Saline implants are often preferred for their more affordable cost and safety in case of ruptures, while silicone implants are typically chosen for their natural appearance and texture.
Breast Implant Sizes
In order to recommend the ideal breast implant size for you, Dr. Smart will consider your height, weight, and body type, as well as your cosmetic goals.
Help with Size Selection
When picking an ideal cup size, we allow patients to try on different sizes so they can see what they'd look like after surgery. We also ask that patients bring in some "wish pick" photos of women's breasts so we can better gauge the look they're going for.
Breast Implant Profile
While cup size is important, we also consider profile, which refers to the forward projection of the breast implants. More prominent cleavage may better complement a patient's figure and their aesthetic needs.
Breast Implant Shapes
The most common implant shape is round with a smooth surface, but other options are available and may be better for your goals.
Round
Round breast implants come in varying levels of projection. Since round breast implants are symmetrical, they do not pose any problems associated with implant rotation.
Teardrop
Also known as anatomically shaped implants, teardrop breast implants may be chosen for a contour that better mimics a woman’s natural breasts. This type of breast implant is usually textured to guard against rotation.

There are different incision methods used to insert silicone and saline implants.
Inframammary incisions are made along the natural crease where the underside of the patient's breast meets their chest.
Periareolar incisions are concealed along the edge of the areola, dark-colored skin that surrounds the patient's nipple.
Transaxillary incisions are concealed in the patient's armpit. Only saline implants can be placed with this incision method.
Combined Breast Lift and Augmentation
A breast lift removes excess, sagging skin for a perkier, more youthful look. The procedure can be combined with saline or silicone implants for more dramatic breast enhancement results.
Breast Implant Placement
The ideal placement method will depend on the amount of breast tissue you have as well as your aesthetic goals.
Subglandular Placement

I would recommend Dr. Smart a thousand times over! He fixed a bad breast augmentation I had done a few years ago. Flawlessly! I am so happy with the results, I couldn’t believe my eyes!
