Achieve a Rested, Alert Look
For some of our patients, the sagging of their eyelids above and below the eyes can result in a sad, tired appearance. During the aging process, the upper eyelids can begin to droop with excess skin and develop a puffy appearance. Below the eyes, the lower eyelids can start to sag, develop bags, or give a hollowed out expression to the cheeks. An upper or lower eyelid lift surgery, performed at Frisco Plastic Surgery near Plano, Texas, can bring back the youthful appearance of the eyes, and remove the drooping skin. Also known as blepharoplasty, an upper or lower eyelid lift can restore what the aging process has taKenaway. By maintaining a balance between removing excess skin and repositioning the fat of the eyelid, Dr. Ken Smart can revive the youthful appearance of the eyes.
Am I a Good Candidate for an Eyelid Lift?
Candidates for an eyelid lift must be in good health and have the typical signs of aging of the upper or lower eyelids. These include excess skin of the upper eyelid that hangs down creating a tired appearance, or obstructing the field of vision. The upper eyelids can also become puffy. The lower eyelids typically form bags underneath them and develop a hollowed out appearance that create a sad or tired look. To find out if you are a candidate for an eyelid lift, contact our plastic surgery office. We serve Plano, Frisco, and the surrounding Texas communities and achieve beautiful and youthful surgical results.
What Are the Blepharoplasty Incisions Like?
The incisions for the upper eyelid lift are placed in the natural fold of the eyelid, which conceals it well. The incisions for the lower eyelid lift are made just below the eyelashes. With time, the scar will fade so that it is almost unnoticeable. Dr. Smart also commonly performs lower eyelid bag removal with the no-scar technique. The incision is made on the inner surface of the eyelid so that there is no visible external scar after surgery. Candidates for this procedure are those that have bags underneath their lower eyelids but no excess skin.
Can An Eyelid Lift Be Performed With Other Procedures?
It is very common to perform other procedures in conjunction with the eyelid lift. At our plastic surgery practice, located in Frisco, Texas near Plano, we most commonly perform it with other facial plastic surgery procedures such as a brow lift, facelift, or laser skin resurfacing. During your cosmetic consultation, Dr. Smart will discuss any procedures that you are interested in and answer any questions you may have. He will also evaluate your face and recommend to you your best options for total facial rejuvenation.
What Type of Anesthesia Is Required for an Eyelid Lift?
In some instances, an upper eyelid lift can be performed in-office with local anesthesia only. When both eyelids are being operated on either IV sedation or general anesthesia can be used in an outpatient surgery center.
Where Does Dr. Smart Perform Blepharoplasty?
Dr. Smart may perform your eyelid lift in a fully accredited outpatient surgery center in our Frisco, Texas office near Plano, located conveniently in our professional building. Dr. Smart also maintains privileges at several area hospitals. If you are having only upper eyelid blepharoplasty done under local anesthesia, your procedure may be performed in Dr. Smart’s office.
What Is the Recovery Like After an Eyelid Lift?

The bruising is usually resolved within a week and the swelling can take a couple of weeks to completely go away.
