Enjoy Toned, Tighter Arms after Your Arm Lift
Trim, toned arms can enhance your appearance, especially in arm-bearing clothing. Unfortunately, the upper arms are often one of the first areas of the body to show signs of age. Significant weight loss can also cause loose skin in this area. Dr. Ken Smart can perform an arm lift at his Frisco, TX, practice, adding definition to your arms and complementing your overall physique. At Frisco Plastic Surgery & MedSpa, Dr. Smart will use the most advanced surgical technique to provide you with the beautiful, natural results you desire. Schedule your consultation today to find out if an arm lift is right for you.
Arm Lift Procedure
During an arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, Dr. Smart will eliminate excess skin and fat from your upper arms. There are several surgical techniques that can be used, and they vary depending on where the incision is made and the amount of tissue removed. These surgical options include:
Standard arm lift: Most commonly, Dr. Smart will create an incision along the back of your arm, or the inside of your arm. The incision will run from your armpit to your elbow, allowing him to treat a large section of your arm.
Extended arm lift: To remove severely saggy skin, Dr. Smart may recommend an extended arm lift. This procedure is similar to the standard arm lift, but the incision will extend to the side of your chest.
Limited incision arm lift: If you only need to treat a small amount of tissue, Dr. Smart may perform a limited incision, or mini, arm lift. With this procedure, he will be able to create a smaller incision, inside your armpit, folding the unwanted skin inside.
General anesthesia will typically be administered before your procedure. After the incision has been created, Dr. Smart will trim the excess skin, and may use liposuction to reduce fat deposits. Next, he will carefully position the skin on your arm, for a smooth, contoured look, and close the incisions with sutures. He will usually remove the stitches at a follow-up appointment in 7 to 10 days.
Your contoured arms could make your entire figure look trimmer, younger, and more proportionate.
Am I a Candidate?
If you have excess skin in your upper arm area, and would like to enjoy more defined, slender arms, you may be a candidate for an arm lift. During your complementary consultation, Dr. Smart will consider your overall health and treatment goals to establish your candidacy.
Dr. Smart will first evaluate your health history. If you have a serious medical condition that could compromise healing, such as an autoimmune disorder, this could affect your candidacy. Additionally, you should not consider an arm lift if you are planning to lose weight. This procedure is intended to remove skin and fat that do not respond to diet and exercise.
You should be committed to maintaining your aesthetic results through a healthy lifestyle. With a balanced diet and regular exercise, you could enjoy slimmer arms for many years to come.
Arm Lift Benefits
Although an arm lift will address a small area of your body, the results can enhance your overall appearance. Your contoured arms could make your entire figure appear trimmer, younger, and more proportionate. This effect can be especially beneficial if you have worked hard to lose weight through diet and exercise, or through bariatric surgery. As a result of your improved figure, you could also enjoy greater self-confidence, which could positively affect your personal and professional life.
